It’s been confirmed that game sharing on PS3 is going to be scaled down this month. At the moment, you can purchase nearly any game on the Store, and up to four other people will be able to play it as long as your account is activated on their PS3. However, from November 18th, this will be scaled down to two. That’ll include the machine the content was originally downloaded on, and one other.

You’ll get four activations in all though, 2 on PS3 and 2 on PSP. If you’re picking up a Vita, you’ll hopefully get 2 more as well. The good news is that you’ll now be able to handle activations online, and select which consoles you want to remain active. It’ll save the headache of contacting Sony’s customer service, at least.

It’s clearly been put in place to protect the developers, who haven’t been too happy about the game sharing rules in the past. However, it’s worth noting that anything bought before the 18th doesn’t fall under the new rule, and you’ll be able to play as normal even if it wasn’t your account the content was purchased on.

We’d like to inform you of some upcoming changes to the usage policies for PlayStation Network game content. As of November 18, 2011, the number of devices that can be activated on one PlayStation Network account for game content purchased from the PlayStation Store will be updated.
For game content purchased after November 18, 2011, a new policy will apply and the number of devices that can be activated will be as follows:

PS3: Users will be able to play the game on up to 2 activated PS3 systems.
PSP: Users will be able to play the game on up to 2 activated PSP systems.

Please note that this update will not affect game content purchased before November 18. The PSP rights include PSP-1000/2000/3000 series as well as the PSPgo system.
PlayStation Network users are able to change the activation setting through each device, and Sony Computer Entertainment plans to provide a new PlayStation Network account management website where users will be able to deactivate particular devices attached to their PlayStation Network account via their PC.

I didn’t post the Uncharted 3 news yet because the patch that was released was not 100% working. It got stuck at level 9, and you couldn’t open the journal without crashing the game. Now there is a Uncharted 3 CFW 3.55 patch version 4 (?) released from this eboot and this one is working 100% The creator from this EBOOT gamefix want to anonymous, so no real credits to give here. The patch was posted by ViolentCris on PS3Crunch.net. This enables you to play your (backup) copy on your CFW 3.55 Playstation 3 without upgrading to CFW 3.72.

Install instructions:

1. Move PSARC.EXE + zlib.net.dll to \USRDIR\build\main\ of your UNCHARTED 3 GAME DATA folder (not the one included with this package)
2. Extract ALL *.psarc’s into the folder they are already in (\USRDIR\build\main\) on your HDD by dragging each .PSARC file onto PSARC.EXE (delete the .PSARC files after you have extracted them to folders)

When you’re done it should look like this:

..\USRDIR\build\main\actor33\
..\USRDIR\build\main\animstream4\
..\USRDIR\build\main\bin\dc1\
..\USRDIR\build\main\pak23\
..\USRDIR\build\main\text1\

IMPORTANT: When you unpack bin.psarc it creates two folders – empty bin folder and one bindc1 folder with files. Rename folder bindc1 to dc1 and put it in the \main\bin\ folder so it looks like this: \main\bin\dc1\

3. Now, merge included USRDIR folder with the existing one where you extracted your psarcs. OVERWRITE all files when prompted.

P R O U D L Y P R E S E N T S: Battlefield 3 – CFW 3.55 Eboot patch

Date: 10/2011 Languages: English

Platform: PS3 Genre: Action

Release Info:

DUPLEX has done it again – here’s an eboot patch to play the retail Disc
based version from your hdd – on CFW 3.55 !!
We would usually just support BLUS30762 (Dcomics release!) , since we do
not acknowledge lame region dupes. It’s just a waste of traffic unless the
nfo clearly states a difference to the first release (like different or
additional languages etc)

But since the BLES01275 dupe contains several new languages, we added a patch
for it too.

Included are updates, cracks and param.sfo’s for both

versions: BLUS30762 and BLES01275

1.) copy BLUS or BLES files to a FAT32 USB Key/USB Disk
2.) install the *DUPLEX*.Patch.v1.01.pkg
3.) install the *DUPLEX*.Crack.pkg
4.) run game from multiman and let it patch your param.sfo

(alternatively take the one from our pack and replace it manually)

5.) play from xmb on your cfw 3.55 !

Enjoy This Fine DUPLEX Release – BETA code free

The Jailbreak 2 (JB2) dongle is now officially named “True Blue” and a list of official features has been released. In order to use True Blue to its full potential, you’ll need to use special BD-R discs (burnable Blu-ray discs) and a Blu-ray burner. If a PS3 game requires firmware v3.6x-3.73, you’ll need to burn it. Games requiring firmware v3.56 or lower will continue to work via a backup manager. The True Blue device is fully compatible with both slim and fat PS3 consoles running firmware v3.55–even the ones that were downgraded to v3.55. And unlike its predecessor, you do not need to perform any “power/eject trick”.

True Blue features:

Booting of games from v3.6+ (up to v3.73) from special BD-R discs available from official resellers
Runs games up to v3.56 from HDD in conjunction with ‘backup managers’
Does not require the Power/Eject trick
Custom v3.55 Dongle firmware behaves like OFW when ‘True Blue’ is not inserted
Manufactured from highest grade components and Actel based
Durable and high quality metal case design
Tough and durable plastic packaging
Further features to be added as they are developed
On board 2 MBytes SPI flash
Supports Fat and Slim consoles currently running any firmware up to v3.55
And any PS3 which can be downgraded from v3.6+ to v3.55 (NOTE: Requires other tools, ‘True Blue’ currently can’t downgrade a Console)
Supports all regions of consoles
Supports all regions of ISO’s to be released
Rock solid crystal oscillator on board for flawless timing
The ‘True Blue’ dongle allows booting of the latest the ISO’s (3.6+) from special BD-R discs which can be purchased from all official resellers.

The discs can be burned by any BD-R recorder and there are no special requirements on either PC or BD burner types.

Whilst we can disclose that the discs are specially manufactured to allow booting of the latest ISO’s, further technical information on the way by which the BD-R discs can allow booting cannot be provided, for obvious reasons.

Like me, you’re probably thinking, “this is going to be expensive”. Just do the math: True Blue USB dongle + special Blu-ray discs + Blu-ray burner = $.

Let’s break it down:

True Blue = ~ $45
10 Verbatim 25GB 6x Blu-ray discs = $22.30
Blu-ray burner = $79.99
The price listed for standard BD-R discs is $22.30. Since True Blue requires “special” BD-R discs, it may cost a lot more.

What are your thoughts? Are you willing to pay for warez? In my opinion a dongle would be oke, but special BD-R discs just to warez games… is to much for me..

The Cobra USB team has just informed us, via email, about a new firmware, backup manager, and Updater for the Cobra USB device. The new firmware includes improved PSP ISO compatibility and PSP savedata. The Manager now outputs errors when Prometheus patched PSP ISO are loaded. In addition, the Updater can be used to update the Cobra USB firmware right from the PS3–no PC required!

Email from Cobra USB team:

Hello!

Cobra USB_Firmware v4.1
Cobra USB Manager v4.1
Cobra USB PS3 Updater v1.0

New firmware update, mainly focused on improving PSP support.
Improved compatibility with psp games. Some of the games that crashed early now run.
Added support for PSP savedata. Please note that in the previous release, savedata worked for isos that were generated from psp minis games. However, those savedata are incompatible with this new firmware. You can see psp savedatas under the ps3 savedata section in the XMB, not under the minis one.
If savedata still doesn’t work in some game, please send us a message to our support email address.
Cobra USB Manager will now give an error when trying to load a prometheus patched PSP iso, as those aren’t compatible with the PSP emulator.
Added Cobra USB Updater to the download section. With this tool you can update the dongle using the PS3, require Cobra Firmware 4.0+ to work. Refer to the manual for instructions..
It’s the real deal for people that want to play there latest games but want to stay on 3.55 to play with homebrew. There is some new information and it would be nice to do a little roundup from all the information that is available.

Roundup

Your PlayStation 3 has to run 3.55 (OFW or CFW), if you upgraded buy a E3 Flashers or Progskeet to downgrade.

The price from this dongle is going to be around $45,- (not THAT expensive).

Expect the dongle to be heavily encrypted and it could take a while before there is a open-source version.

A lot more newer PS3 game titles then originally isted below are now working

You be able to burn the special game discs yourself, that are used by the JB2 design, and details on how & why will be coming by next week.

So you need: Dongle ($45,-) + BD Burner ($90) + 10 BD Disc’s ($30) = $165

More details next week.

A team who goes by the name KADO, from Indonesia, is claiming to have figured out how to play v3.60+ games on the PS3–using a new USB dongle called JB2 (Jailbreak 2). This dongle will only work on PS3 consoles running official firmware v3.55. In order to play v3.60+ games, it must be burned onto a blank Blu-ray disc. However, games that are playable from HDD will continue to work.

Update: It has been confirmed that JB2 (aka Jailbreak 2) is indeed genuine! It can certainly boot up games like Fifa 12, amongst others, which requires v3.60+ keys. There are a few requirements for this to work: PS3 console must have official firmware v3.55, JB2 USB dongle, and PS3 games must be burned onto BD-R (blank Blu-ray) discs. Check out the video proof below.

I only wonder if we’ll see the return of PSGroove—maybe PSGroove 2. You know, like what PSGroove did to PSJailbreak—made it affordable for v3.41 jailbreakers.

Quote by Gary from PS3Crunch

Very Strange thing and out of the blue and with no big fanfare, this JB 2 rumor been going around like wildfire on various forums, but now I have personally confirmed it with one of my trusted sponsors, and will I have more information next week with detailed pictures and info on actual features, plus an sample soon afterwards to be reviewed by one of our trusted Crunching Developers!

You might not believe your eyes or ears yet, but it is real and currently selling only locally in small shops in Indonesia, but it true the JB2 dongle works only on original v3.55 firmware, but it allows you to play games like Fifa 12 which have v3.60+ keys on ‘pirated Blu-Ray discs’ (burned media), but not from the HDD, unless it is older game, all the way up to the latest v3.73 games!

Biggest news ‘break’ of this year so far in the PS3 ‘scene’, and they calling it JB2 (Jailbreak 2) and it will be the real deal for the PS3 owners.

I have officially eaten my own words from yesterday!

Ok, some good news for 3.41CFW/MFW users. Thanks to an0nym0us the proper offsets for lv1 and lv2 in 3.41 were located and you can now enjoy the PSX games and direct-disc-access. Have in mind that it won’t work for 3.41OFW + dongle. You need to be on 3.41MFW with some lv1 patches like Rogero CFW, Rebug CFW or Hermes CFW (3.41 versions).

Changelog for v2.09.02:

Improved performance in XMMB display mode
Backup from PS3 game discs now works as it should
Support for PSX backups on 3.41CFW/MFW (10x to an0nymous for the lv1/lv2 offsets)
You can still launch PSX games from XMMB Game Column
You can still launch PS3 game backups from DVD-R/RW / BD-R/RE
You cannot create ISO backups or access non-genuine PS3 game discs (unless Direct Disc Access is enabled)
You will see an animated icon in XMMB Game column, which you can use to launch your PSX backups.
To keep the same functionality as before you can turn on “Direct Disc Access” from XMMB Settings column. >>> Press [TRIANGLE] -> Enable Direct Disc Access >>> When in Direct Disc Access mode you can rip BD movie discs, launch games, but you can’t create backups of PS3 Game Discs. >>> Do not use “Direct Disc Access Mode” unless you really need it.

KaKaRoTo has released a new version of Eskiss with PS Move support. Eskiss is a great “draw” game. You need to draw lines and circles or constructions to solve puzzles. You can still use the mouse or controller. But this is a perfect example of an awesome homebrew game for the PS3. Personally, I think the game is more enjoyable with PS Move. Give it a try.

<iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RmIIxZdy19U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>

KaKaRoTo says:
The instructions are simple, you can still play with a normal mouse if you want, or use the controller to emulate the mouse, just like before. But, if you have a PS Eye camera plugged in, then it will also be ready to handle the Move.

If it detects a move controller, the ball on the controller will be white, at that point, you must press the Action button while pointing the controller to the camera (there’s no image feedback on the screen, so just point and press the action button). This will calibrate the controller and the ball will change color. At this point, moving the controller will also move the cursor on screen.

You can press the Action button at any time to recalibrate the controller (useful if the tracking stops working correctly, or camera falls off), and you can press the Start button at anytime to center the cursor on screen. Pressing the T button trigger will emulate a click.

You have the choice between two tracking modes, the first one (the one selected by default) is the 3D coordinate system, which means the cursor appears on screen with 1 to 1 precision (kind of) with where the controller is located in the room, so you have to move the whole controller to move the cursor (and even maybe stretch your arms to get to the corners), the second tracking mode is using the internal gyroscope of the controller, in other words, you can move the cursor just by pointing or rotating the controller without moving the whole controller in 3D space.

You can switch from one tracking mode to another at any time by pressing the Select button. Try them both and see which one you like best.

P.s: When you press the Action button to calibrate, the ball will change colors a few times, you must not move the controller while it’s doing that, do not move until it becomes a solid, stable color. If the ball becomes white again, it means you moved and the calibration failed… in that case, try again.

P.p.s: In this release, I have also fixed the crash that you might have had in the previous version, so the game should be a lot more stable. While it still might crash, it is now very rare and shouldn’t break the gameplay like it did before.
